Broadway Ticket Sales Report: Week ending April 29th, 2007

Kiss Broadway goodbye — “Prelude To a Kiss” did just that on Sunday, April 29. It was a limited engagement, previewing Feb. 17 and opening on March 8. One of its stars, John Mahoney, may be remembered as Dad on the long-running television comedy “Frasier”. Its ticket sales in this reporting period were $138,354, playing to a 52% capacity house.
A new musical, “Lovemusik”, began previews at the Biltmore on April 12, and opens May 3. It is based on the love letters of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya and features his music. This past week it grossed $217,708 in ticket sales with a 74% capacity house…
The total ticket sales were $20,538,552. Top performing productions were: “Wicked” $1,389,502 at 100% capacity; “Jersey Boys” $1,165,939 at 100%; “The Lion King” $1,151,342 at 98%; “Mary Poppins” $1,009,369 at 88%; and in 5th place, “The Color Purple” $946,606 at 84% capacity.
Lagging behind this past week were “Journey’s End” with $131,987 at 33.4% capacity; “Company” with $218,515 at 41%; “Talk Radio” with $233,396 at 45.5%; “Coram Boy” with $255,070 at 45%; and “Radio Golf” with $133,896 at almost 48% capacity.
The highest ticket price was $351.50 for “Jersey Boys”.
The numbers for “The Coast of Utopia” were combined: “Part 1 – Voyage,” two performances; “Part 2 – Shipwreck,” two performances; and “Part 3 – Salvage,” three performances in the past week.
