America tours until June 2009
The rock duo America is continuing to tour down the highways of North America with dates booked practically every month through June 2009, except for none in December 2008, March and April 2009. More shows are anticipated to be filled in.
The tour kicks off on August 13 in Montreal and stops mostly in theatres, casinos and performing arts centers. There are three bookings in Brazil from August 28-30.
Once a trio but for many years a duo–Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell–are still promoting 2007’s double album, “Here & Now,” which had collaborations with Ryan Adams, Ben Kweller and members of My Morning Jacket, Nada Surf and Maplewood. In September, they will release a DVD of its performance on PBS-TV’s “SoundStage.” They co-headlined a tour with Chicago last year.
America is best known for chestnuts, such as “Horse With No Name,” “Ventura Highway” and “Sister Golden Hair.”
