MGMT tour takes on U.S., Europe, Australia

Brooklyn, NY-based indie rock group MGMT, the duo of Ben Goldwasser and Andrew Van Wyngarden, have been logging lots of time on the road lately, and will be touring Australia for the first time ever this December. The two will perform headline shows in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, December 6-11.

The two have been playing together since their days at Wesleyan University in Connecticut back in 2001. After graduating in 2005, they toured extensively in support of their “Time to Pretend” EP.

Exploding on the international music scene earlier this year, they have played several festivals, including twice at Glastonbury (UK), Roskilde (Sweden), T in the Park (UK) and Oxegen Festival (Ireland). On our shores, MGMT has also logged some festival time at SXSW, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Osheaga in Montreal, QUE.

More UK festivals are on tap this month with stops at Reading, Leeds and V Fest. A US trek with Beck follows on September 20-October 10, which includes a solo gig at Austin City Limits in Austin, TX, on September 27. After two more festival dates in mid-October, this time in Mexico, the duo head over to Europe for a month of headline shows, November 3-28, before heading Down Under.
