World Series tickets make Tropicana Field the number one venue

TicketNews has released its exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, October 26, and the World Series dominates the list again this week. Tropicana Field leads the pack with a whopping power score of 9.20. The Tampa Bay Rays’ home field, which recently added seating for their postseason run, was host to games one and two (and a possible six and seven) of this year’s World Series between the Rays and the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies’ home turf, Citizens Bank Park, switches places with Tropicana Field this week, moving down to second place, with a still-impressive power score of 5.91. The Park played host to games three, four and five of the Series, though Game 5 is still being contested due to a weather-related suspension.

Radio City Music Hall moves up two to the number three position this week on strong sales for the holiday season’s Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The venue power scores a 3.05 this week. With baseball ruling this week’s rankings, Madison Square Garden (MSG) drops one more to the number four position this week with a power score of 2.78. Ticket sales for artists such as AC/DC and Tina Turner, as well as early season ticket sales for New York Ranger hockey games, continue to make MSG a top contender week after week. The Gershwin Theatre again follows close behind MSG, moving down one to fifth place this week with a power score of 2.59. Robust sales for Wicked have kept this the top Broadway venue in our rankings for the past several months.

Football once again follows baseball this week, with Giants Stadium up one to the number six slot this week on continued strong ticked sales for New York Giants tickets. The home field to the Giants and the New York Jets power scores a 1.66 this week. The Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center rebounds into the top ten this week with a respectable seventh place finish and a power score of 1.44. The second Broadway venue in our rankings this week can thank solid sales for its hit revival of South Pacific for its resurgence here.

Texas Stadium continues its descent in the rankings, dropping two more places to finish in the number eight position this week. The home to perennial football favorites the Dallas Cowboys has a power score of 1.43 this week

Next in our rankings is Virginia/August Wilson Theatre in New York City. Strong ticket sales for Jersey Boys, a top five finisher on TicketNews’s Top Broadway Events and Top Theater Events rankings for several months, drove the venue’s return into the top ten this week. The Theatre power scores a 1.33 in the rankings.

The American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX, hangs on to the number ten slot this week, helped by concert sales for top artists such as AC/DC, Coldplay, the Eagles and holiday favorites the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The Center finishes with a power score of 1.29 this week.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
