Andrew Bird tour sets loose ‘Noble Beast’ for new 2009 dates

Singer-songwriter Andrew Bird will soar into 2009 with a new album release and a jaunt across the United States to match. The acclaimed indie musician will launch his 17-city tour with a January 28 gig at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY, and complete the run on February 27 at Slowdown in Omaha, NE.

Along the way, Bird will touch down for shows on February 3 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, February 19-20 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA, and February 24 at the Knitting Factory in Boise, ID. Public on-sales have already begun for most dates on the winter tour.

Bird’s latest album “Noble Beast” is set to drop on January 20 in the U.S. and February 2 across Europe, according to his official Web site. The record is a follow-up to 2007’s critically acclaimed album “Armchair Apocrypha,” which debuted at No. 76 on the Billboard 200 and incorporates Bird’s signature mix of violins, whistling and folk-rock.

Over the course of his career, the Chicago-based musician has released five solo albums (including the upcoming record), as well as three discs with his band Andrew Bird’s Bowl of Fire and three live albums. The indie rocker has also made guest appearances on dozens of albums by artists such as Ani DiFranco, My Morning Jacket, and the Squirrel Nut Zippers, who named him an honorary band member for his contributions.
