Christmas Spectacular tickets keep Radio City Music Hall the number one venue

TicketNews has released its exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, November 30, and Radio City Music Hall remains at the top of the rankings for a fifth straight week. With a power score of 4.66, Radio City benefits from ticket sales for its Christmas Spectacular, which is scheduling six to eight performances per day through the Christmas holidays. The Gershwin Theatre is next at number two with a power score of 3.59. Brisk ticket sales for its high grossing hit musical “Wicked” keep this theater a top five contender week after week.

Madison Square Garden (MSG) drops one to follow the Gershwin this week at number three. Power scoring a 3.09, MSG can thank sales for the new season of New York Knicks basketball, shows like Cirque Du Soleil’s Wintuk, and the superstars of the WWE for its continued strong performance in the rankings. TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA holds steady at number four this week. The home court to the Boston Celtics and host of an upcoming date on Metallica’s tour power scores a 2.21 this week. Up two to the number five slot this week is the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. With a power score of 2.01, the Center has booked numerous top-selling acts such as Celine Dion, Dancing with the Stars, the WWE and Los Angeles Lakers basketball.

Football drops to the second half of our rankings this week, with the first football venue,
Giants Stadium, landing at number six. Up four from last week’s number ten slot and power scoring a 1.74, this New Jersey venue is home to popular area teams the New York Jets and New York Giants.

The Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center moves up two to finish in the number seven slot this week. With a power score of 1.62, the theater is home to the wildly popular revival of the musical South Pacific. The Georgia Dome continues its decline in the rankings this week, down three to the number eight slot. The Dome will host the December 6 SEC Championship Game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the University of Florida Gators.

In ninth position this week is the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Power scoring a 1.42 this week, the MGM was host this past weekend to a performance by teen-age favorites the Jonas Brothers and will have the December 6 match between Oscar de la Hoya and Manny Pacquiao. Finally, in at number ten this week is the Virginia/August Wilson Theatre. Broadway’s home to Jersey Boys, a solid top five finisher in TicketNews’ Top Broadway Events and Top Theater Events rankings week after week, power scores a 1.39.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
