Ray LaMontagne tour spreads more ‘Gossip’ around the U.S.

Currently on the road for a winter European tour, acclaimed folk musician Ray LaMontagne will return to the States for a new outing this spring. The 21-city tour begins April 2 at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ, and closes out with an April 30 gig at the Fillmore in Miami Beach, FL.

The month-long East Coast circuit includes an April 7 show at the Calvin Theater in Northampton, MA, an April 19 set at Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, MI, and an April 22 performance at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO. Two dates in Canada are booked for April 14 at Metropolis in Montreal, QC, and an April 15 concert at Massey Hall in Toronto, ON.

Public onsales for the jaunt begin on February 3. The performer’s next show is January 31 at the Opera House in Cork, IRE, and he has concerts booked overseas through a sold-out February 27 show at The Tivoli in Utrecht, HOL.

LaMontagne is continuing to support the October 2008 release of his third studio album “Gossip in the Grain.” The record, a follow-up to 2006’s “Till the Sun Turns Black,” earned the singer-songwriter his highest chart position with a No. 3 peak on the Billboard 200.

“It was time to open up a little bit more, not be quite so reserved in my choice of songs that I wanted to record,” the husky voiced performer said in a statement about the album.

The upcoming jaunt is LaMontagne’s first return to the U.S. tour circuit since his fall 2008 album release tour. That outing featured nearly 30 performances from late September through early November.
