The Killers tour announces new ‘Day & Age’ concerts for spring
Las Vegas-based rockers The Killers are only two dates into their winter North American tour, but they have already outlined plans for spring tour leg. After finishing international dates in Europe and Australia, the band will launch the second round of North American dates.
The 16-city spring jaunt picks up April 16 at Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, AZ, and concludes May 9 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. Additional U.S. stops are set for April 30 at The Rave Eagles Club in Milwaukee, WI, and May 5 at Lifestyle Communities Pavilion in Columbus, OH. Four shows are booked in Canada, beginning with an April 23 set at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, BC, and wrapping with an April 27 gig at Rexall Place in Edmonton, AB.
Presales for the spring tour leg begin at 10 a.m. local time on January 21 for members of the official fan club, The Victims. Public onsales will follow on January 23 and 24.
According to a statement on the band’s Web site, presale orders will be limited to two tickets per person. In additional, tickets will be non-transferrable, though exact terms restricting the transfer of tickets were not detailed.
The Killers kicked off their 2009 touring season on January 17 with a concert at Magness Arena in Denver, CO. The next concert is tonight (January 19) at Northrop Auditorium in Minneapolis, MN, with more North American shows booked through February 4 at Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie, TX.
The increasingly popular rock quartet is touring behind their November 2008 release “Day & Age.” The record, which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, is a follow-up to the 2007 B-sides and rarities compilation, “Sawdust.”
The Killers first broke onto the scene with their 2004 triple-Platinum debut “Hot Fuss,” which worked its way to No. 7 on the Billboard 200 with the help of popular singles “Mr. Brightside” and “Somebody Told Me.” The sophomore follow-up, “Sam’s Town,” earned the band its best chart appearance to date with a No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200.
