Mötley Crüe returns to the road this summer for Crüe Fest 2 tour

Following the success of last year’s inaugural tour, Mötley Crüe‘s namesake Crüe Fest 2 has been announced for summer 2009. The Live Nation-produced trek will run from July 19 at Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ, through September 5 at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Darien Center, NY.

Thirty cities are marked on the coast-to-coast circuit for Crüe Fest 2. The outing features a July 30 concert at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA, an August 7 performance at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX, and an August 29 event at Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta, GA, among other dates.

A presale that started yesterday, February 25, for members of Mötley Crüe’s official S.I.N. fan club, with a public presale following on March 2. General onsale dates are yet to be announced. The 2009 tour’s lineup will be unveiled during a March 16 press conference in New York, NY.

“Last year at Crüe Fest, we set out to have more fun than humans are allowed to have. We succeeded beyond that,” drummer Tommy Lee said in a statement. “This year, we are going to top that and I guarantee we will.”

In addition to headlining the second year of its namesake tour, Mötley Crüe will also take a few breaks for a couple of state fair appearances over the summer. The band has stops penciled in on July 24 for the North Dakota State Fair in Minot, ND, and September 3 for New York State Fair in Syracuse, NY.

Mötley Crüe launched the inaugural Crüe Fest in summer 2008, visiting 40 cities across North America from early July through late August. Buckcherry, Papa Roach and Trapt participated in the outing, along with Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx’s side project Sixx:A.M.
