India.Arie tour soars with North American Soulbird dates
R&B singer-songwriter India.Arie is ready to take flight this spring with her recently extended Soulbird Tour. The eight-week North American trek begins April 1 at Zellerbach Auditorium in Berkeley, CA, and closes May 24 at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN.
Originally announced with only a handful of performances on the West Coast, the tour is now scheduled to hit more than 20 cities from coast to coast. Along the way, India.Arie will perform an April 15 set at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA, a May 1 concert at Grand Ballroom in New York, NY, and a May 17 show at the House of Blues in Chicago, IL.
The tour will swing North of the Border for two select engagements on April 5 at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC, and May 15 at Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto, ON. Show-specific ticketing information is available at India.Arie’s official Web site.
India.Arie, born India Arie Simpson, is touring in support of her fourth studio album. “testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics” was released on February 10 and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The record is a follow-up to 2006’s “testimony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationship,” which topped the Billboard 200 within its first week of release.
“Everybody’s looking for ways to feel better — the world is so unpredictable, people are looking inside themselves to ask what’s meaningful in life,” the singer-songwriter explained in a statement about her drive to create uplifting songs. “My music has always addressed this, and now it’s so much in vibrational accordance with what people are thinking.”
