Keith Urban tour begins ‘No Frills’ concert series

Before launching his arena-sized summer tour, country star Keith Urban has announced a block of “No Frills” performances that will take him through the nation’s clubs and theaters. The six-show run begins March 18 at the House of Blues in Dallas, TX, and wraps April 3 at the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA.

Other stops are set for March 24 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA; March 27 at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA; March 30 at Joe’s Sports Bar in Chicago, IL; and April 1 at Webster Hall in New York, NY.

The intimate tour is supporting the upcoming release of Keith Urban’s fifth studio album, “Defying Gravity,” which hits store shelves on March 31.

Tickets for the brief concert series were offered to Verizon Wireless customers who purchased Urban’s music or videos with the mobile carrier’s V CAST music service. Select customers received digital tickets on their phones, which will be scanned at the events’ doors.

“Clubs are where it all began,” explained Urban in a statement. “There’s just something about the way the band grooves and how the audience gets right up there close and personal, and I love it. So for me there’s a nostalgic cool factor in doing this with Verizon.”

The brief outing follows Urban’s performance tonight (March 17) at the Houston Rodeo at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX. The Escape Together World Tour kicks off with a May 7-8 stand at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, and is currently scheduled through a September 9 concert at EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, UT.
