Carbon Leaf tour synchronizes new concert dates with album release
Folk rock outfit Carbon Leaf will launch a new tour this spring to coincide with the release of the group’s newest studio album. The tour launches on May 19 at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA, and wraps July 12 at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville, TN.
Nearly 30 concerts are booked across the nation for this late spring to early summer endeavour. Highlights for the trek include a May 22 show at 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, a May 27 concert at HighLine Ballroom in New York, NY, a June 5 performance at Subterranean in Chicago, IL, a June 9 gig at Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, MN, a June 14 session at Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO, a June 25 show at Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, CA, and a June 29 event at The Rhythm Room in Phoenix, AZ.
Carbon Leaf will release its newest studio album, “Nothing Rhymes with Woman,” on the tour’s May 19 opening day, though the disc is currently available for pre-sale. The disc is the band’s seventh studio album and a follow-up to their 2006 mainstream breakthrough “Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat.”
“I wanted songs that were emotionally available to the listener and to me without trying to mask what I’m saying with clever language,” guitarist and vocalist Barry Privett said in a statement about his songwriting. “The feelings are anxious and regretful. They talk about living up to the mistakes you’ve made. They examine the humanity and weaknesses of everyday life.”
Based out of Richmond, VA, the rock quintet has been making music for more than a decade. The debut record “Meander” was released in January 1995. However, Carbon Life didn’t make their Billboard chart debut until its 2006 effort snuck onto the Billboard 200 at No. 170 and hit No. 3 on the Heatseekers chart.
