Blondie, Pat Benatar tour expands ‘Invincible’ plans for summer
Female rock trailblazers Blondie and Pat Benatar have cemented their summer touring plans with a batch of new dates. The Call Me Invincible Tour encompasses 18 concerts over a period of five weeks.
As TicketNews previously reported, the late summer affair launches July 21 at The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA. The veteran rockers will continue on separate tours after the co-headline jaunt wraps with an August 23 gig at the Arena Theater in Houston, TX.
Newly confirmed dates on the joint venture include a July 28 concert at Dodge Theater in Phoenix, AZ, an August 13 performance at Asser Levy Park in Brooklyn, NY, and an August 15 show at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, OH.
“Pat Benatar is not only a friend, but a fearless female rocker who has entertained me and her wealth of fans for so many years,” Blondie frontwoman Deborah Harry said in a statement. “This will be a reunion for us both and being able to bring our two shows to fans across the country is very exciting!”
This is the first time the two acts have toured together during their 30-year careers. Benatar commented in a statement, “Deborah and I have been friends forever. I’m thrilled that we’re finally getting an opportunity to tour together, it should be a blast.”
Tim Neil, a New Orleans-based artist, was asked to create promotional artwork specifically for the tour. The resulting image blends the iconic features of the platinum blonde Harry with raven-haired Benatar and will be used on merchandise for the one-month outing.
Also, as previously reported, the all-female rock band The Donnas will provide opening support throughout the tour. A full tour itinerary is listed below, along with individual calendars for Blondie and Benatar, who tours regularly with husband and longtime musical partner Neil Giraldo.
