Dar Williams tour maps ‘Promised Land’ through summer with Stephen Kellogg
Since the 2008 release of her latest album “Promised Land,” folk musician Dar Williams has been a sort of permanent fixture on the road, performing scattered shows across the country. Her album promotion will continue this summer on a month-long tour with musician Stephen Kellogg.
The 21-date adventure officially launches a performance on August 2 at the Sunset Music Series at Waterfront Gazebo in Cold Spring, NY, and continues through August 30 at Pinkney Park in Rowayton, CT. Stops include an August 16 concert at WorkPlay Theatre in Birmingham, AL, and an August 23 gig at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, IL, among other dates.
Kellogg, who usually performs with his band The Sixers, will appear solo on his jaunt with Williams. He joins the bill beginning with an August 11 concert at Is Venue in Charlottesville, VA, and continues his supporting stint through August 26 at The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI.
According to Williams’ official Web site, tickets are already available for most dates on the tour, with just a few remaining on-sales coming up. Up-to-date ticketing details can be found on her site.
In addition to her tour with Kellogg, the singer-songwriter has filled her itinerary with nearly 20 additional concerts spread out over the summer. Some of Williams’ other plans include a June 12-13 stand at Watercolor Café in Larchmont, NY, an October 15 show at City Winery in New York, NY, and a November 6-7 stretch at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA.
Williams launched the first leg of the “Promised Land” tour in September 2008, coinciding with the album’s release. She later added a second leg to the trek, taking her through the end of the year and bringing her concert total to more than 40 dates.
