Fleetwood Mac tour extends North American dates through June
The iconic Fleetwood Mac will continue its greatest hits run across North America for at least another month. Over the past few weeks, new dates have been unveiled slowly for a June extension of the veteran rock band’s current Unleashed Tour.
The legendary rockers have added 11 more concerts to their summer itinerary so far, picking up with a June 3 show at EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, UT, and running through a June 20 performance at New Orleans Arena in New Orleans.
In addition to a few new gig stops, Fleetwood Mac will also complete a few return performances. The group plays a second show on June 11 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, reprising their earlier March 19 performance at the venue. Mac also penciled in a repeat performance on June 17 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, following the first March 14 stop.
Fleetwood Mac launched the original round of Unleashed Tour dates on March 1 at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, PA. When it was first announced, the outing was scheduled for more than 40 shows, ending with a May 31 show at San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, CA.
According to an earlier statement from acclaimed guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, this is the first time Fleetwood Mac has toured without a new album or any new material to support. It is also the band’s first tour in about five years with principal members Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood all appearing.
Keyboardist, vocalist and occasional songwriter Christine McVie has been officially retired from the band for about a decade. However, according to published reports, Nicks has taken over vocals on McVie’s song “Say You Love Me” for the tour.
