Chickenfoot tour announces North American concerts for summer
As the band members promised, Chickenfoot will hit the road across the U.S. and Canada again this year for a second, more substantial tour leg. After selling out small club and theater venues during their brief debut “Road test” tour in May, the newly formed rock supergroup has booked itself into slightly larger venues for the first part of its North American summer tour.
The new 20-date trek kicks off August 2 at Citadel Hill in Halifax, NS, and continues through September 5 at Harveys Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena in Stateline, NV. Highlights include an August 7 concert at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL, an August 17 performance at Beacon Theatre in New York, NY, and an August 29 concert at the House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
No West Coast dates have been confirmed at this point, and only one additional show is bound for Canada on August 4 at Sound Academy in Toronto, ON. However, more North American tour dates will be revealed in the near future, according to Chickenfoot’s official Web site.
The majority of fan club presales will begin June 10, followed by onsales on June 13. Ticket sales in Boston start a day earlier on June 12. Specific details about tickets and pricing will be officially announced on the band’s site on Monday.
It is unclear whether the band will implement the same “no-scalping” ticketing procedures used in May. For those concerts, which were booked into small venues and quickly sold out, tickets were only available for Will Call pick-up, and a valid photo ID was required for admission to the venue.
Chickenfoot is the brainchild of ex-Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani. The quartet is touring in support of its self-titled debut, which hits stores today, June 5.
The band’s first North American tour ran from May 14 in Seattle, WA, through May 29 in Philadelphia, PA, and hit a total of only nine cities. The band’s full-length European tour kicks off June 20 in Austria and continues through a July 12 performance in the Netherlands.
