Kings of Leon tour maps North American ‘Night’ dates through fall

Months deep into their latest tour, Nashville-based rock band Kings of Leon isn’t even close to surrendering its newfound title as rock royalty. The band has announced a complete fall tour leg for the U.S. and Canada after originally confirming just a few dates.

The 28-city tour picks up August 9 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, and leaves off temporarily on August 22 at The Forum in Inglewood, CA, to head overseas for headline spots at the UK’s Reading and Leeds Festivals. The North American jaunt picks up again on September 9 at Mogehan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, with its remaining dates booked through October 16 at Sommet Center in Nashville, TN.

Kings of Leon had previously announced its August tour dates and a few of the planned September gigs. Some of the new highlights include a September 16 show at Bell Centre in Montreal, QC, a September 26 performance at Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI, and an October 9 concert at Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA.

The first ticket sales for the new batch of shows begin June 5, with remaining onsales following over the next couple of weeks. Tickets for most August and some early September concerts are already available. Onsale details are updated regularly on the band’s official Web site.

From September 9 through September 26, Scottish alt-rock crew Glasvegas will provide the night’s opening support. Beginning September 28 through the end of the confirmed itinerary, English alt-rock band White Lies will step in to fill the tour’s supporting duties.

Kings of Leon is still touring behind its fourth studio album and mainstream breakthrough “Only by the Night,” released in September 2008 with a No. 5 debut on the Billboard 200.

The first North American tour leg was announced shortly before the album’s release and featured stops in the nation’s clubs and theaters. But by the time Kings of Leon hit the road, their popularity had outgrown the tour’s modest venue size, leading to an upgraded round of spring concerts in the U.S. and Canada.

The rock quartet is about to launch its latest tour of the UK with a June 15-16 run at The O2 Arena in London, ENG, and continuing to headline festivals and concerts across Europe through July 19 at Gurtenfestival in Bern, SWI.
