Pinback tour plots fall dates as work continues on new album

San Diego-based indie rock band Pinback will hit clubs across the U.S. and Canada later this fall as work continues on a new album. The 26-city outing kicks off October 17 at The Marquee in Tempe, AZ, and ends November 15 at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, CA.

The fall circuit includes stops from coast to coast across the nation, including an October 21 show at Exit/In in Nashville, TN, an October 30 concert at the Fillmore at Irving Plaza in New York, NY, a November 6 performance at Ogden Theatre in Denver, CO, and a November 14 set at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. So far only one date has been booked north of the border for November 9 at Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC.

Ticket sales have already begun for select dates on the late fall trek and are available through Ticketmaster and Live Nation. A supporting act has not been added to the billing for any of the concerts yet.

Pinback recently signed to Temporary Residence Ltd. after former label Touch and Go Records announced in early February that it was shrinking its staff and cutting distribution ties with a number of previously affiliated labels, such as Drag City and Kill Rock Stars.

“We hope that Touch and Go Records will rise again,” the duo wrote in an April statement on their official MySpace page, continuing, “they have been such a positive influence on us. We made a lot of friends over the course of the 5 years we were there, we felt like we were a part of a family. You couldn’t ask for anything more.”

The band reportedly chose Temporary Residence for its “down-to-earth, genuine ‘human vibe,'” and expressed excitement about continuing writing and recording for near future. “We can’t wait and are looking forward to writing a solid new record for them,” Pinback said in its statement, though a timeline for the new album’s production and release was not confirmed.

Whenever the record comes, it will be the follow-up to Pinback’s fourth studio album, “Autumn of the Seraphs.” Released in September 2007, the album received mostly positive critical reviews and earned the band its highest-ever position on the charts with a No. 69 peak on the Billboard 200.

The group toured behind “Autumn” last fall, as well, with a similar 29-city itinerary that ran from September through October.
