Last chance for Forecastle Festival, UFC 100 tickets

UFC 100 and the eighth annual Forecastle Festival are just a couple of the events with ticket sales closing during the week ending July 13, as compiled by TicketNews.

Mixed Martial Arts will be taking over Sin City this week for UFC 100 on July 11 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV. The weekend event schedule includes a Heavyweight Championship bout between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir, as well as a Welterweight Championship bout that pits Georges St-Pierre against Thiago Alves. The third match on the card pairs middleweight contenders Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping.

The eighth annual Forecastle Festival hits Riverfront Belvedere in Louisville, KY, this July 10-12. Opening night features a headline performance by The Black Keys, while the next two nights will be closed out with double sets from Widespread Panic. Secondary headliners for the last two days of the festival are The Black Crowes on July 11 and The Avett Brothers on July 12.

The calendar for the coming week also includes several other major festivals and concert events. The Ottawa BluesFest kicks off its nearly two-week run this week on July 8 at Lebreton Flats in Ottawa, ON. Some of the first weekend’s headliners include Jeff Beck on July 8, Jackson Browne on July 10, and Stone Temple Pilots on July 13. The summer festival closes its doors on July 19. Meanwhile, ’80s greats Duran Duran close out a North American tour with some final U.S. concerts from July 7 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA, through July 11 at the OC Fair at Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa, CA. A more recent music phenomenon, indie rock group Spoon takes the stage at Waller Creek Amphitheater at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q for a three-day run, July 9-11, in Austin, TX.

This weekend also rings in the next batch of MLB All-Star Game events in St. Louis, MO. The actual game goes down on July 14, but the week is filled with MLB All-Star FanFest opportunities at the city’s America’s Center Convention Complex. Additionally, All-Star Sunday is inked for July 12 and the 2009 Home Run Derby is scheduled for July 13, with both of those All-Star Week events taking place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

Racing fans can also get their adrenaline pumping this weekend with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series: Lifelock.com 400. The stock cars hit the pavement on July 11 at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, IL.
