Everclear tour steps into the ‘Light’ with fall 2009 concert plans

As Everclear looks toward the future with some new musical projects on the way, the band will head out on the road with a fresh batch of fall concerts. The one-month trek begins with an October 3 concert at the Tulsa State Fair in Tulsa, OK, and concludes its East Coast run on October 22 at Toad’s Place in New Haven, CT.

Highlights on the 13-date itinerary include an October 5 performance at HighLine Ballroom in New York, NY, an October 12 concert at the Higher Ground Ballroom in South Burlington, VT, and an October 21 event at Showcase Live in Foxboro, MA.

15 for $15 with Napster! The limited tour leg features just one Canadian concert, as the tour bus veers north of the border for its October 19 gig at The Mod Club Theatre in Toronto, ON. However, a more extensive tour is expected to follow in 2010.

Public onsales for the tour begin September 2 for most of the scheduled performances, except in Philadelphia and Toronto, where ticket sales begin September 11. Ticket prices, shows times and other details can be found on the official Everclear Web site.

After completing dates with his band, Everclear frontman Art Alexakis will join Eddie Kowalczyk of Live and Leigh Nash of Sixpence None the Richer for the Open Wings Broken Strings Tour. The brief acoustic outing will feature all three musicians playing stripped down solo sets.

“We’re playing all the songs you know and love and sharing the stories behind them in a really unique and compelling way,” Alexakis explained in a statement about the tour.

“In this intimate environment, the rock star steps out from behind the layers of decibel and drama to greet you with the essence, the story, and the song,” Kowalczyk added in his own statement. “Quiet just might be the new loud.”

Despite some dramatic personnel changes over the past few years, Everclear has a few projects lined up, the first of which is due October 6. The album, titled “In a Different Light,” features new versions of the band’s previous recordings. A completely new studio effort is reportedly also in the works with a projected spring or summer 2010 release date.
