KISS tour announces North American concert dates for ‘Alive 35’
About four months after letting fans decide the course of its upcoming tour, hard rock crew KISS has finalized a 10-week schedule for the North American leg of its Alive 35 Tour. They might not be playing in any cornfields, but the costumed rockers will be catering to their fans with more than 40 arena shows this fall.
The 40-city venture launches with KISS’s only confirmed multiple-night venture on September 25-26 at Cobo Arena in Detroit, MI. The remainder of the 2009 tour leg stretches through December 6 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX, though additional dates are also promised for 2010.
Highlights on the late 2009 itinerary include stops on October 5 at TD Garden in Boston, MA; October 10 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY; October 28 at Sommet Center in Nashville, TN; November 15 at KeyArena in Seattle, WA; and November 25 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. A venue has not been announced yet for the band’s November 28 booking in Las Vegas, NV.
In addition to those national dates, the rock and merchandising titans will also hit seven markets in Canada. Some of those events include an October 2 performance at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON, and a November 14 concert at General Motors Place in Vancouver, BC.
The first public onsales start on August 29 for shows from September through mid-October, according to KISS’s official Web site. Remaining onsale dates will be announced in coming weeks.
In early April, KISS announced that it would allow fans to pick the band’s North American destinations for the fall tour leg. The band tracked “demands” to play in specific cities through the Web site Eventful.com, and promised to play wherever that demand was greatest — “from stadiums to cornfields.”
The Alive 35 Tour is a continuation of KISS’s worldwide 35th anniversary celebration. The tour will feature a mix of classic KISS songs, as well as tracks off the band’s forthcoming album, “Sonic Boom,” scheduled for release on October 6. The record marks KISS’s first studio effort since 1998’s “Psycho Circus.”
As announced earlier this summer, Buckcherry will provide support throughout the late 2009 Alive 35 run.
