Lenny Kravitz tour brings ‘Love’ celebration to U.S. this fall

In a recent one-two punch, rocker Lenny Kravitz unveiled plans for a fall tour, punctuated by his addition as a headliner at the 2009 Voodoo Experience.

The musician launches his LLR 20(09) Tour with a fractured engagement at the Fillmore at Irving Plaza in New York, NY. He’ll first play in the Big Apple on October 11-12 and 14-15, returning to the venue soon after for an October 18 reprise performance.

From there, Kravitz’s trek will visit 10 additional U.S. cities along the eastern seaboard, wrapping with his top-billed appearance on November 1 at the annual Voodoo Experience festival in New Orleans, LA. Other headliners for the Halloween weekend event are Eminem and Ween on October 30, KISS and Jane’s Addiction on October 31, and Widespread Panic on November 1.

Tickets for all five New York shows will go on sale September 12 through Live Nation, with most other onsale dates yet to be announced. According to Billboard, venue announcements are also forthcoming for gigs on October 21 in Boston, MA, and October 26 in Nashville, TN, though neither date appears on Kravitz’s official Web site.

The New York-born musician is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut album, “Let Love Rule.” Released in September 1989, the record climbed to a peak position of No. 61 on the Billboard 200 and earned gold certification by 1995.

Kravitz began his LLR 20(09) Tour with a full schedule of spring and summer dates, stretching from mid-April through the end of July. In addition to commemorating the anniversary of one album, the tour also continued promoting the release of another. The February 2008 effort “It’s Time for a Love Revolution” is Kravitz’s eighth studio album and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.
