Corinne Bailey Rae tour brings ‘The Sea’ back to North America this summer

British chanteuse Corinne Bailey Rae will begin her summer with a European festival tour. But before the end of the season, she’ll bring her live show back to North American shores for a reprise of her successful spring trek of the United States and Canada.

Bailey Rae’s summer itinerary opens with an August 6 performance at Water Taxi Beach on Governor’s Island in New York, NY. The 22-date national schedule concludes over a month later with a September 12 appearance at the Life is Good Festival in Canton, MA.

The singer-songwriter’s calendar is not all her own, though. From August 8 through August 16, she’ll be appearing as part of this year’s Lilith Fair Tour lineup, headlined by fair founder Sarah McLachlan. From there, she’ll join Norah Jones’ headlining tour for five dates from August 19 through August 27.

Tickets are on sale for select dates of Bailey Rae’s headlining tour, as are Lilith passes and tickets to Jones’ tour. However, onsale dates and ticketing information for most of her September dates are still forthcoming on the singer-songwriter’s official Web site.

The upcoming summer jaunt is a follow-up to jazz-and-soul performer’s spring tour of North America. That 16-market venture launched April 9 at Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC, and wrapped last month on May 14 with a show at Ram’s Head Live! in Baltimore, MD.

Bailey Rae is supporting her acclaimed sophomore album, “The Sea,” released in the states on January 26. The effort peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and earned high praise from many critics. Ann Powers of the Los Angeles Times described the album as “hard to absorb but ultimately deeply rewarding.”
