Prince tours Carolinas with six new ‘Welcome 2 America’ concerts
The forecast for North and South Carolina is in — and it involves a whole lot of “Purple Rain.” Prince will storm the region in little more than a week with the latest dates in his Welcome 2 America concert series.
Prince presently has three events booked in each state, beginning with a March 21 show at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, SC. The southern routing concludes a little over a week later on March 30 at the Coliseum in North Charleston, SC.
In between, His Royal Purpleness has stops set for March 23 at RBC Center in Raleigh, NC; March 24 at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC; March 26 at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC; and March 28 at Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC.
Web sites for most of the host venues list public onsale dates of March 14-15 for Prince’s Carolina romp. Ticket prices, meanwhile, range from $20 to $199, based on Colonial Life Arena and RBC Center event listings.
The Welcome 2 America Tour was wildly successful with its earlier New York City and Bay Area concerts.
His initial six-date series in New York and New Jersey featured a long and eclectic list of guest performers, such as Cassandra Wilson, Esperanza Spalding and Maceo Parker. His more recent three-date series at Oracle Arena treated West Coasters to special guest Sheila E. and opening act Larry Graham.
