Watch the Throne, UFC 136 tickets on sale this weekend

Tickets for hot musical artists, still more NFL teams, and now NHL teams, are on sale throughout the weekend ending August 22 as compiled by TicketNews.

First, the wildly popular Watch The Throne Tour of Jay-Z and Kanye West has more dates on sale this weekend, with Atlanta, GA, Atlantic City, NJ and Miami, FL available today. The pending tour of the mega-star rap collaborators has been bolstered by impressive iTunes downloads and CD sales of the self-titled album, which has been #1 in several countries since its release.

Chris Brown continues his comeback efforts and takes his F.A.M.E. tour across the U.S. this fall with guests Kelly Rowland, Tyga and T-Pain. Tickets to shows in Baltimore MD, Long Island, NY and Maryland Heights, MO go on sale this weekend. Despite a couple of minor hiccups along the way since his legal issues from a couple of years ago, Brown has largely seen his musical efforts pay off, even if his image makeover remains a work in progress.

Tween favorite turned pop star Joe Jonas opens public onsales for a number of shows today, including his joint tour dates with British R&B singer/songwriter Jay Sean in Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, New York, NY, Philadelphia, PA and Toronto, ON, as well as a solo date in Pomona, CA.

Separate dates for old school alternative rockers The Smashing Pumpkins and Bush go on sale today, August 19, with shows on sale for the Pumpkins including Washington, DC, New York, NY, and Oakland, CA. Bush, which only counts frontman Gavin Rossdale and drummer Robin Goodridge as the only original members of the band, is touring with Chevelle and Filter for several dates, and the band has a number of appearances on sale throughout the weekend, including San Diego, CA, Las Vegas, NV and Detroit, MI. The Philadelphia, PA show with guest Chevelle, and solo show in Grand Prairie, TX are also on sale.

In other performance, tickets for “Wicked” productions in both Detroit, MI and Des Moines, IA are on sale this weekend. The Detroit Opera House’s December run of the award-winning musical goes on sale today, while the Des Moines Civic Center’s show, opening in November, starts selling tomorrow. “Wicked” was again the top theatrical event last week on TicketNews’ exclusive industry rankings, and benefits from several different productions in theaters around the country.

Sports events on sale this weekend include UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX, going on sale today. With the regular season just a few weeks away, another NFL team put their tickets on sale with the Arizona Cardinals starting up sales tomorrow. Since the end of the NFL lockout, ticket sales have largely been strong for many teams, and the Cardinals are hoping that new quarterback Kevin Kolb, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles, will generate some fan excitement.

Finally, season tickets for the NHL’s Minnesota Wild also start selling tomorrow, August 20, and Monday, August 22, will see public onsales for recent Stanley Cup champions the Chicago Blackhawks. Last season’s playoffs saw solid ticket sales, and the league hopes to capitalize on that momentum in the upcoming season.
