Paul Simon adds 2011 tour dates, plots ‘Graceland’ run
The latest leg of the So Beautiful or So What Tour is now underway, but Paul Simon is only just getting started.
The singer-songwriter has added 8 new concert dates to his already lengthy 2011 U.S. tour plans. The extension picks up after a November 26 show at Mark G. Etess Arena in Atlantic City, NJ, and keeps Simon on the road through a December 6 performance at Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL.
Other stops along the way include events on November 27 at Prudential Hall in Newark, NJ; December 1 at the Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, NC; and December 4 at UCF Arena in Orlando, FL.
Public ticket sales begin October 21 for select dates on Simon’s upcoming tour. Ticket prices vary depending on the market, with face values ranging from lows of $35 to highs of $130, according to the musician’s official Web site.
Simon launched his fall trek yesterday, October 17, at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, AZ. The iconic musician will perform a total of 31 concerts during the late 2011 outing.
While Simon’s current concert slate is filled with mostly low-key theatre dates, the singer-songwriter has bigger plans up his sleeve for 2012. Next year marks the 25th anniversary of his watershed solo effort “Graceland,” and a celebratory tour is reportedly in the works to mark the occasion.
According to Billboard.biz, Simon will perform the album on tour with the artists who helped in its making, including Ladysmith Black Mambazo. No further details are available at this point, though the concert industry publication targeted May as a likely starting frame for the tour.
The 70-year-old musician, one half the iconic folk duo Simon & Garfunkel, presently is touring behind his April 2011 solo album, “So Beautiful or So What.” The venture’s first leg launched in spring with North American club dates, and continued through the summer with international bookings.
Simon initially announced the second leg of his So Beautiful or So What Tour in mid-September.
