2012 American Idol Live Tour tops events rankings this week
Making an impressive debut onto TicketNews’ exclusive event rankings this week is the American Idol Live Tour, taking over the No. 1 spot after announcing the tour dates and locations just last week.
The tour features this seasons’ top 10 finalists from the popular television show which has helped launched the careers of popular artists including: Fantasia Barrino, Kelly Clarkson Scotty McCreery and Adam Lambert. Although the American Idol season finale will air on Fox on May 23, the summer tour gives fans the opportunity to see their favorites perform in concert. Headlining the tour this year are contestants Colton Dixon, Erika Van Pelt, Elise testone, Heejun Han, Hollie Cavanagh, DeAndre Brackensick, Jessica Sanches, Skylar Laine, Phillip Phillips, and Joshua Ledet .
The summer 45-stop tour kicks-off at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, MI, on July 7 and wraps up on September 11 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI, with its sole Canadian stop at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on August 16.
Popular Country singer and former winner of the fourth season of American Idol, Carrie Underwood took the No. 3 position in the rankings this week when tickets for her Blown Away tour went on sale for all locations. The tour is support of the singers’ latest album of the same name.
Her 2012 tour will kick off September 14 in New Hampshire at the Verizon Wireless Arena and wrap up on December 22 at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise Florida. According to the singers official web site more international dates will be added to the tour at a later date.
Legendary performer Barbara Streisand landed at No. 6 on the charts this week when fans scrambled to grab pre-sale tickets for the Brooklyn native, when she performs a one-night only concert at the newly-opened Barclays Center located Brooklyn on October 11. Tickets will officially go on sale on May 21.
Canadian singer, songwriter Leonard Cohen landed at a respectable No. 9 spot in the top event rankings this week when the popular performer recently announced his dual North American and Canadian tour.
