Kylie Minogue Fans Fume Over Exorbitant Prices for Mini-Tour
Australian pop star Kylie Minogue is catching serious heat from fans on social media, following the announcement of a new tour with some eye-watering prices attached to intimate venues.
Prices for Minogue’s tour, which currently number just five stops in London and Manchester in England, Barcelona, Paris, and Berlin, reportedly start above $140 and continue on to more than ten times that amount for a meet and greet with the diminutive songstress.
“I’m so excited to perform songs from my new album ‘Golden’ in these iconic European clubs,” Minogue said at the time of the tour announcement. “Each of these venues is very special and – just as I found making the new album in Nashville to be so energizing – these shows will be new, intimate and fun. I just can’t wait to bring these new songs to life and of course, throw in a few surprises for my fans.”
You can imagine how fans took the “surprise” of the prices.
“Do you want to meet fans or only millionaires?” asked one fan, tweeting at Minogue’s account with an image of the prices in Euros. “I’m disgusted.”
“Early entry £265? I have queued for hours for her shows to be front row, I am dedicated but I’m not rich,” another fan tweeted. “£110 is more than half a week’s wages for me. I’m gutted. I booked a day off work to see this but I’m not even going to be able to go.”
The early entry option the fan is talking about is a price point between the entry level and the meet and greet which carries with it the ability to enter a bit earlier.
As the article points out, VIP access is something that artists have increasingly embraced as they look to increase revenue on tours. Taylor Swift’s Reputation Tour features “Snake Pit” package tickets that cost $900 each and comes with a box full of exclusive swag, but no personal interaction. Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber meet and greet options on recent tours mentioned by News.com.au cost $950 and $650, respectively.

And I knew M&G would be pricey but I find the concept of paying to meet someone really sad. @kylieminogue has been my idol since I was 8, I would adore to meet her (again) but to know I paid for it makes it feel cheap and not special. I just think the industry is sad now 🙁
