L7 To Release First Album in 20 Years, Currently On World Tour

The punk-metal band L7 are back with some big news — not only is the group currently on a world tour, but they’ve announced the release of their first album in 20 years, set to drop in February 2019.

L7 announced the news on PledgeMusic with a teaser video playing their hit, “Fuel My Fire” off their     album Hungry For Stink.

The following statement was issued by the group via PledgeMusic:

“After having an amazingly great experience with our L7 reunion tour in 2015 as well the release of a documentary on our band, “L7: Pretend We’re Dead”, the band felt inspired to do some songwriting and return to the studio once again. The end results were recording the tracks “Dispatch From Mar-a-Lago” and “I Came Back to Bitch”. Our first new tunes in 18 years!

We’ve had such a blast hanging out, writing, and recording with each other again that we decided to keep the ball rolling. More song ideas have been flowing out of us every time we get together and play, so we’ve decided to make a full length album which we will record this year.”

The album is available for preorder, and L7 is accepting donations in exchange for an array of merch, including a record player prop from the 1994 “Andres” video, signed set lists, meet and greet opportunities, a vintage L7 vinyl record, and Suzi Gardner’s guitar.

Their latest music releases after 18 years include “Dispatch From Mar-a-Lago” and “Come Back To Bitch.” Both are available to buy and stream, and the new album, yet to be titled, will most likely feature these singles. Singer and guitarist Donita Sparks told Rolling Stone about the L7’s future, stating that if the band doesn’t get signed to a label, they will “just make it happen.”

“The reunion was for the fans and us coming together as peers and friends again and giving it another go,” Sparks said. “But now our creative juices are really going.”

L7’s North America tour kicked-off on April 10 in New Jersey before making stops in Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Milwaukee. Tonight, they will play a show in Indianapolis, followed by Minneapolis tomorrow. Dates will run through May 27 in Las Vegas, Nevada before hitting the UK, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. The group will return to the North America for shows in Michigan, Ontario, and Quebec before playing two final dates in London this October and December.
