Swedish Stadium to Host First-Ever Concert in 2025
Sweden’s Uppsala’s Studenternas stadium is preparing to host its first concert next year. The 15,000-capacity venue will welcome Veronica Maggio, scheduled for September. The concert is being organized by All Things Live in partnership with local promoter Kaliber Live.
Originally built as a sports facility, Studenternas underwent a three-year renovation, reopening in 2020 with the goal of accommodating a variety of events. Staffan Littmarck of Uppsala Arenas and Properties noted that “it feels amazingly funny that it is Veronica Maggio who is inaugurating Studenternas as a new arena for concerts in Uppsala.”
“We strongly believe in Studenternas as a venue for larger outdoor concerts, where the audience gets close to the artist and gets a unique experience,” Littmarck said.
He added that this marks the beginning of a broader effort to enhance Uppsala’s reputation as a premier destination for events.
“Together with organizers and partners, we want to continue promoting Uppsala as an event city and extend a warm welcome to all visitors. Opening with an artist like Veronica Maggio sets the standard for future events in the arena,” Littmarck said.
Studenternas is already well-known as the home ground of football club IK Sirius and received the Sports Arena of the Year award in 2023 from architectural firm FOJAB. To ensure the preservation of the football field, a new protective floor will be installed for the concert.
Additionally, Littmarck highlighted the city’s broader ambitions for hosting large-scale events.
“This summer we launched Polacksbacken as a new venue for events and concerts with up to 40,000 visitors,” he said. “Studenternas fills a gap just below that and is a perfect complement to Polacksbacken, UKK, Fyrishov, Parksnäckan, Katalin, and other scenes in Uppsala.”
