Terrence Mann to Play Limited Engagement in Broadway’s ‘The Great Gatsby’

Broadway’s “The Great Gatsby” musical welcomes actor Terrence Mann in the role of Meyer Wolfsheim beginning on January 8, 2025. Three-time Tony Award nominee Mann will play in the show through April 20 after replacing original company member Eric Anderson who will have his final bow on January 5.

Having appeared in a great deal of shows on Broadway, Mann received Tony nominations for his performances in “Les Misérables,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Pippin.” His other Main Stem credits include “Tuck Everlasting,” “Cats,” “Finding Neverland,” “The Addams Family,” and more.

Following its world premiere in Millburn, New Jersey at the Paper Mill Playhouse in October 2023, “The Great Gatsby” musical was transferred to the Broadway Theatre in 2024 spring.

The production marks the first Broadway musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel that takes place during the Jazz Age. It centers around Jay Gatsby, a mysterious millionaire — just like in the fiction version — who is in love and obsessed with reuniting with his former lover, Daisy Buchanan.

While Fitzgerald’s classic novel is turning 100-years-old in 2025, the Broadway musical will celebrate the centennial of the original work it is based on with a gala performance on January 16, 2025.

The current company of “The Great Gatsby” includes Jeremy Jordan as Jay Gatsby (through January 19, 2025), Eva Noblezada as Daisy Buchanan, Noah J. Ricketts as Nick Carraway, Samantha Pauly as Jordan Baker, Sara Chase as Myrtle Wilson, John Zdrojeski as Tom Buchanan and Charlie Pollock as George Wilson, along with Eric Anderson in the role of Meyer Wolfsheim. Ryan McCartan will take over the lead role of Jay Gatsby beginning January 21.

“The Great Gatsby” features a book by Kait Kerrigan, with music and lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Jason Howland. Marc Bruni directs the show while Dominique Kelley owns the choreography.

Scenic and projection design are by Paul Tate de Poo III, with costume design by Tony Award winner Linda Cho. Sound design is handled by Brian Ronan, lighting by Cory Pattak, and hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe and Rachael Geier. Jason Howland also contributes as arranger, with orchestrations by Howland and Kim Scharnberg. Daniel Edmonds serves as the music director, and Grammy winner Billy Jay Stein handles music production for Strike Audio.

Receiving the 2024 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical, the Broadway stage adaptation of “The Great Gatsby” is set to expand its shows overseas, making its debut on London’s West End in 2025.

The acclaimed musical will play at the London Coliseum, beginning with preview performances on April 11, ahead of an official opening night on April 24. Performances are scheduled through September 7, with casting details expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
