Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw partner for 2012 tour
Almost 10 years after last sharing a tour bill, country superstars Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw have lined up a new round of joint dates for summer 2012.
The Brothers of the Sun Tour routing presently features 19 weekend dates. The tour launches June 2 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL, and wraps August 25 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA.
Other scheduled stops on the stadium tour include June 9 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX; July 7 at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL; and August 18 at Ford Field in Detroit, MI. Performance dates are forthcoming for shows at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN, and Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, OH.
Public ticket sales begin December 3 for select tour dates. According to Ticketmaster.com listings, ticket prices have been set in the range of $30 to $275, before fees. More details are available on Chesney’s official Web site.
The Brothers of the Sun Tour marks the first joint outing for the pair since 2001, when Chesney supported a McGraw-led bill.
The mid-2012 concerts will feature full sets from both musicians, as well as some shared stage time. Folk-rock band Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, as well as country singer-songwriter Jake Owen, will provide support.
“Technically I am closing, but Tim and I are going to give the fans their money’s worth,” Chesney said of their line-up plans in an interview with Billboard.biz. “If I was being correct about it, I’d say me and Tim are closing. We’re going to try and change it up every night, have as much fun as we possibly can.”
Chesney spent most of 2011 on the road with his Goin’ Coastal Tour, which ran from March through August. The end-date of that venture — also at Gillette Stadium —
was rescheduled as Hurricane Irene approached, threatening the East Coast.
