Aerosmith tour ‘Ready to Rock’ with new concert dates in Canada

Aerosmith returns to the North American road tonight, July 23, for the first date of its national Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock Tour.

The venture kicks off at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA, and weaves its way across to the East Coast through early September. But the Bad Boys of Boston won’t stay in their native region for long, as five recently unveiled concerts will take them back out to Western Canada.

The fresh string of dates picks up September 8 at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB, and continues with performances on September 10 at Saddledome in Calgary, AB, and September 12 at Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon, SK.

From there, Aerosmith’s busses will head out for a September 14 concert at Rexall Place in Edmonton, AB, before wrapping the tour (for now) with a September 16 event at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC.

Presales for the newly added shows will begin July 26, and public onsales will follow on July 29. Ticket prices vary slightly from show to show, but will range from about CA $50 to CA $200, according to current Ticketmaster.com event listings.

The late-summer tour is Aerosmith’s first in North America since the band cancelled its 2009 tour. Throughout last year, health problems and injuries plagued the rock veterans, from guitarist Brad Whitford’s head injury to bassist Tom Hamilton’s surgery.

But the tour was ultimately brought to a halt by a series of injuries suffered by frontman Steven Tyler. The singer injured his leg early in the tour, leading to seven concert postponements. But when Tyler fell off the stage during a concert later in the tour, the rest of the tour was scrapped to allow enough recovery time.

After overcoming those odds — and ensuing months of heavily reported in-fighting — Aerosmith regrouped at the start of this year and announced its summer tour plans for Europe, which went off without a hitch. But the group’s U.S. tour plans had a close call this week when Joe Perry was involved in an accident on his motorcycle.

Despite being taken to the hospital for evaluation, the guitarist luckily walked away injury-free. As Perry told Rolling Stone this week, “I had visions of playing shows in a wheelchair. I think this accident was a power higher than me saying, ‘Don’t ride your Ducati a week before the tour. I’m just going to warn you once.'”
