Allman Brothers Band tour taps Widespread Panic for late summer concerts

Fresh off their annual 15-show residency at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, the Allman Brothers Band will keep the concert train rolling across the United States through the end of summer. The Southern rock crew has unveiled plans for an eight-week run with a band renowned for its prolific touring, Widespread Panic.

The trek officially starts August 19 at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, and closes October 17 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX. Widespread Panic first joins the tour on August 21 at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ, and continues its supporting role through the remainder of the itinerary.

The 16-city tour includes an August 29 concert at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA, a September 2-3 stand at Charter One Pavilion in Chicago, IL, an October 3-4 run at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte, NC, and an October 16 performance at the Superpages.com Center in Dallas, TX.

Before the Allman Brothers launch into their late summer itinerary, the Southern rock icons will perform some scattered spring performances, including a May 16 show with The Dead and the Doobie Brothers at Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, WA. The spring tour launches with a May 12-13 stand at Fox Theater in Oakland, CA, and wraps with June 5-6 performances at the band-founded Wanee Festival in Live Oak, FL.

In March, the Allman Brothers Band marked its return to the Beacon Theatre in New York City with a residency at the venue, originally set at 10 shows but later extended to a full 15 concert run. The group was forced to cancel its run in 2008 as keyboardist and vocalist Gregg Allman underwent treatment for Hepatitis C.
