American Idols Live tickets take number one in the Top Event Rankings

TicketNews released its Weekly Top Events rankings for the week ending May 11, and American Idols Live ticket sales gave that event the number one spot in the overall top ten and a 7.18 power score. In second place is Wicked with a 6.70 power score. Sports events are still making overall the top ten, and these rankings show the Boston Red Sox at number three overall (2.08), the NBA Western Conference Semifinals game with the Houston Rockets at number four (1.91), and the New York Yankees at number five (1.80). Theater’s Jersey Boys make number six (1.78). Top concerts continue to sell tickets, including Elton John & Billy Joel (seven, 1.53), Aerosmith & ZZ Top (eight, 1.48), Kenny Chesney (nine, 1.41), and U2 (ten, 1.34).

The concert top ten show Jonas Brothers behind the above concerts, at number six in with a 2.36 power score. Dave Matthews Band follows with a 2.29 power score. Coldplay reenters the Top Concert Event rankings at number eight (2.13), as do Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band at number ten (1.84). Fleetwood Mac is number nine, power score 1.86.

In the sports rankings, the Red Sox, Yankees, and Rockets have the lead, followed by the Chicago Cubs (4.80). NBA playoff games rank highly: the NBA Western Conference Semifinals with the Los Angeles Lakers is number five (3.42), the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals with the Boston Celtics is six (3.33), and the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals featuring the Atlanta Hawks is number seven (3.18). The NHL Western Conference Semifinals: Chicago Blackhawks makes eight (2.72). The WWE is back in the sports top ten at number nine (2.55), followed by the Orlando Magic (ten, 2.50).

Wicked is the top show in the Broadway rankings with a 31.91 power score. Jersey Boys trails behind with a 12.12 power score. Tony Award nominated Billy Elliot is number three (11.42) and West Side Story is number four (11.06). South Pacific comes in at number five (6.71). Hair (seven, 3.13) and Mamma Mia! (eight, 2.58) still appear to be Broadway favorites amongst ticket buyers, as does Phantom of the Opera (nine, 1.90). God of Carnage closes out the Broadway top ten with a 1.82 power score.

In the theater rankings, Wicked, Jersey Boys, and Billy Elliot are one, two, and three. Andrea Bocelli is still moving tickets, enough to give him the number five spot (5.03). Mary Poppins makes number six (3.65). Lion King is still popular theater fare, as that show is at number eight (3.39). Dirty Dancing rounds out the top ten with a 2.26 power score.

Cher continues to hold on to the number one spot in the Vegas rankings with a 62.31 power score. Bette Midler continues to be number two with a 32.11 power score. “Jersey Boys” are three (1.67) and Cirque du Soleil shows take numbers four through seven: Cirque du Soleil – O (0.83), Cirque du Soleil – Zumanity (0.73), Cirque du Soleil – Criss Angel Believe (0.52), and Le Reve (0.48). The Chippendales are new to the rankings at number eight (0.31) and Amazing Johnathan returns to the Vegas top ten at number nine (0.24). Donny & Marie Osmond are number ten, power score 0.21.
