Blink-182, My Chemical Romance drive 10th Honda Civic Tour
Public ticket sales start this week for the 10th anniversary Honda Civic Tour. The hallmark 2011 venture places Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance front and center on a bill that includes support from Manchester Orchestra, Rancid, Against Me!, and Matt and Kim.
The 2011 tour itself kicks off with an August 5 performance at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, and continues for another two months before its October 15 closing show at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, CA.
The 40-date trek includes performances on August 23 at Marcus Amphitheater in Milwaukee, WI; September 17 at Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ; September 26 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX; and October 8 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA.
Most public onsales for the tour open June 10 and 11, according to listings on Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com. Some venue listings note that limited allotments of $20 tickets are available, while most show regular prices starting around $25 and reaching up to the $70 to $80 range.
While the Honda Civic Tour does not include any concerts north of the border, Blink-182 and other artists on the lineup have booked some Canadian concerts among their official Honda dates. These secondary tour dates feature similar onsale dates and prices.
The Blink-led Canadian concerts are August 16 in Montreal, QC; August 17 in Toronto, ON; August 25 in Winnipeg, MB; August 26 in Saskatoon, SK; August 27 in Edmonton, AB; August 28 in Calgary, AB; August 30 in Victoria, BC; and August 31 in Vancouver, BC.
Blink-182 appeared on the first Honda Civic Tour in 2001. The tour ran annually through 2008, but took 2009 off due to the weakened economy. Organizers made the announcement in January 2009, following early reports that All-American Rejects and Jack’s Mannequin would co-headline the venture. Organizers revived the Honda Civic Tour in 2010 with Paramore headlining and sister act Tegan and Sara supporting.
