Fleetwood Mac tour ‘unleashes’ nearly 30 new concerts
Classic rock group Fleetwood Mac has significantly extended its North American tour by two months. Originally set for 15 concerts in the northeast, the outing is now booked for 44 shows from coast-to-coast.
A second night has been added to the band’s stay in Chicago, expanding the run to March 5-6 at the Allstate Arena. Breaking for a couple weeks after the March tour leg, Fleetwood Mac will then return to the road with an April 15 show at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA, and continue through a May 31 concert at San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, CA.
Highlights for the expanded itinerary include an April 22 show at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, FL, a May 2 gig at Toyota Center in Houston, TX, a May 10 set at Pepsi Center in Denver, CO, a May 18 concert at Arco Arena in Sacramento, CA, and a May 30 performance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
Live Nation is producing the North American tour and handling ticketing via the company’s new ticketing operation, Live Nation Ticketing. Ticket pre-sales for the recently added shows begin on January 17 with public onsales following on January 26 at 10 a.m.
Fleetwood Mac announced initial plans for the Unleashed greatest hits tour in early December. It will be the quartet’s first tour in five years with principal members John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood and Lindsey Buckingham all appearing.
“We love our band and think the title of the tour ‘Unleashed’ perfectly describes how we all feel when we get on stage together — especially in 2009,” the band members said in a joint statement on their Web site. “We’re so happy to get back out on the road, perform everyone’s favorite songs and see our fans.”
