Jason Mraz tour plots solo shows, dates with Dave Matthews Band

Singer-songwriter Jason Mraz has solo tours lined up this spring for Europe and Australia, and now he’s unveiling plans for the U.S. too. He’ll hit the national tour circuit to support select dates of Dave Matthews Band’s upcoming tour, beginning with an April 25 show at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, TN.

From there, Mraz has outlined a block of solo shows, including an April 28 concert at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, AR, and a May 3 performance at Kohl Center in Madison, WI. Currently, his final spring shows are for DMB‘s May 8-9 stand at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

A limited number of tickets to Mraz’s solo gigs are available through a fan presale beginning this week. Presale purchases are limited to a maximum of four tickets per person on a first come, first served basis. Public onsales start on February 28; sales have already opened for the DMB tour.

The Virigina-based musician is supporting the 2008 album “We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.” The record peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, his highest chart position to date, and the first single “I’m Yours” has already gone double-Platinum.

The disc is the long-awaited follow-up to 2005’s “Mr. A-Z.” For Mraz, the delay between albums was about taking time off to get back to the basics. In a statement on his Web site, he noted, “I said, I want to go to the grocery store again. I want to do my own laundry. I want to tend to a garden. I want to raise a cat.”

Following a year-long break from touring and recording, Mraz returned to write the material for “We Steal Things” with a renewed perspective. Now that he’s back with a full itinerary of headlining dates and a supporting stint with Dave Matthews Band, Mraz plans to take regular breaks so he doesn’t get “lost” on the road.

“Every couple of weeks I’m going to go home for a while and I’m going to squeeze my cat and do my laundry, say my thank yous and then I’ll go out and do some more,” he explained. “There’s certain new rules I’m playing by and a new me.”
