Lady Gaga tour rolls out ‘Monster Ball’ headlining dates

Now that’s how you announce a tour. As promised, and on time, music industry It-girl Lady Gaga followed last week’s tour-teasing statement with the revelation of a full North American itinerary for 2009-2010.

The Monster Ball Tour kicks off November 27 at The Bell Center in Montreal, QC, and will close with a two-night engagement on January 20-21 at Radio City Music Hall in the performer’s native New York, NY. Two-night runs are also slated for December 1-2 at the Wang Center in Boston, MA; December 9-10 at Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, BC; and January 8-9 at Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL.

Most plans for the year-bridging tour are finalized. However, a December 18 event in Las Vegas, NV, is still awaiting a venue confirmation. Ticket pricing and sale information is also forthcoming. Alternative rapper-singer Kid Cudi will be the supporting act on all dates of the winter trek.

Lady Gaga’s 18-city outing will promote her upcoming album, “The Fame Monster.” The reissue of the singer’s acclaimed debut “The Fame” features eight new tracks and is set to drop on November 23.

The singer-songwriter, who has become known for her extravagant fashion and concerts, has promised an equally over-the-top production for The Fame Monster Tour.

“The Haus of Gaga had been designing ‘The Monster Ball’ for premiere in 2010 at the O2 Arena in London, but due to diligent work and preparation, ‘The Monster Ball’ will begin on November 27 in Montreal,” she wrote on her official Web site, referencing her in-house creative team. “‘The Monster Ball’ is a multimedia artistic experience in the style of the first-ever ‘pop electro opera.'”

The late-year outing is actually a fallback plan for Lady Gaga, who was originally supposed to co-headline a tour with beleaguered rapper Kanye West. Ultimately, that tour was cancelled during its first onsale period, just as a media firestorm surrounded West for interrupting country startlet Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Despite cancelling the one trek, Lady Gaga told press that she would tour on her own. The new 2009-2010 routing approximately follows the one planned for Gaga and West and will hit many of the same markets but in slightly smaller venues than the axed arena bookings.
