Usher tour adds ‘OMG’ concerts in North America this spring

He may have amassed a career seven Grammy Awards — including two at this week’s ceremonies — but Usher isn’t resting on his laurels. The R&B music magnate has plotted a fresh round of arena touring to take him through the late spring months.

The on-going OMG Tour resumes April 27 at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, FL, and continues at least through a June 1 concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Akon will appear as a special guest on all dates of the tour.

The 19-city routing has some gaps in it that could be filled with more concerts at a later date. But at the moment, confirmed U.S. gigs include May 5 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NY; May 20 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL; and May 28 at Arco Arena in Sacramento, CA.

Two performances have also been added in Canada on May 14 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON, and May 25 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC.

Not all onsale dates have been announced yet, but the first round of public ticket sales begins in select cities this Thursday, February 17. In the states, most ticket prices start around $25 and reach up to $100, while the Toronto show is priced from C$39.75 up to C$143, according to Ticketmaster.com listings.

Usher launched the OMG Tour in North America with more than two dozen concerts in November and December 2010. The performer’s overseas leg starts tonight, February 15, in Paris and ends in New Zealand this April.

Full details of the on-going OMG Tour are available on Usher’s official Web site.

Over the course of his career, Usher has been nominated for nearly 20 Grammy Awards and has taken home statuettes in 2001, 2002 and 2005 (when he won in three categories). On Sunday night, February 13, the singer added two more Grammys to his collection: one for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance on “There Goes My Baby,” and the other for Best Contemporary R&B Album for “Raymond v. Raymond.”
